We are VERY excited to announce that our new travel blog is officially LAUNCHED!! Woooo hoooo!

Come join us at Happy Janssens!

There are 23 blogs already posted for your reading pleasure and TONS of new photos (including lots of new listings at my Etsy store). I’ve been blogging all of our travels from the time we bought the RV, but the dates aren’t exactly right because I blogged them all at once :) Now that I’m caught up, the posts will be in “real time”. We love love love comments…so don’t be shy!

You will see there that we are currently taking bookings for photography sessions, veggie oil conversions, and custom RV remodels. Please contact us right away if you’re interested in hiring us for these services when we are in your area. We are basing our route on our booked jobs.

Spread the word…and put one of little blog “buttons” on your site!

Johnson City, TN: Charlie and Angela

It was after 11:00 p.m. when we pulled into the church parking lot…but Angela was still there to meet us (what a trooper!). Her father is a pastor there, and we were able to enjoy a private little corner of the lot, with electricity! :) Angela and I have corresponded via email for several years now…it was a delight to finally meet her in person. We hugged, and chatted, and then agreed that we had better get some sleep!

The next day, we met many of Charlie and Angela’s friends…had a great time chatting, drinking tea, eating cookies, and doing laundry. On Sunday, we attended Heritage, her dad’s church and thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and sermon. After lunch, we went out for Indian food with her parents…yum yum! It was my birthday, and a I enjoyed my birthday lunch immensely! :) That night, we attended their church, The Assembly (a 3 year old church plant). Charlie is the pastor there… and it was great to see him in “action”. It was so neat to see all that God is doing in their lives and in the lives of their friends.

We headed out on Monday morning…but we made plans to meet back up in Asheville, NC the next weekend. So stay tuned!

Explain it to Me

Thanks to the Golden Fuel Systems team…we are officially driving on veggie oil! We had a wonderful time with our new friends in Springfield. We were only there for a week, but we were able to do so much! We went to a renewable energy fair, explored the heart of Ozark Country, ate Thai, drank tea, and checked out the local coffeeshops. All in all we had a glorious time. Thanks again to Chuck and Anna for opening their home and hearts to us while we were in Springfield. See photo set here. After all that fun, it was time to move on. Our system was completed on Sunday and we took off and headed back toward Des Moines. We stopped at the Kansas City/Oak Grove KOA for the night, where we enjoyed free wi-fi and a wonderfully cool pool. See photo set here. It is SO HOT in Missouri! Whew!

In the above photo, you can see Matt explaining how a veggie oil system runs. I had been chatting with one of their wives in the office as I checked in, and as soon as we parked, they drove up in their golf cart. These two men (Ron and Ron) were really excited…and with good reason: they were former Ford Motor employees! It was fun to listen to their questions and enlighten them about the joys of veggie. They seemed genuinely interested about converting their diesel RV’s to veggie oil.

We slept great in our air conditioned bedroom. It’s so quiet and dark in there; I love it! We hit the road in the morning and headed north…but first, we needed to go grease hunting!
