Kathy...thanks for the great idea! The only problem is the amount of food waste we go through in a week. I would guess that we'd fill up a large bucket like that in a week. We produce about 5 lbs a day eating raw. For now, I am just dumping in friends' piles :) It's working until we find a better solution!

Just a comment about the compost on the road. My husband and i travel in our RV all summer visiting family up north (we live in Texas). I take along a bucket with a lid (lots of things come in them, I think laundry detergent once - or kitty litter. Ask friends for donations of one) and keep my compost in it. When we are parked during the day, I put it out in the sun and shake it. It holds almost everything from the summer. If you had a second one, you could actually turn it into compost on the road. We keep it in one of the 'underneath' bins. Let me know how it works!

I've been looking forward to 50 degree days after the winter in South Dakota :-) Sounds warm from my perspective. I suppose an RV gets pretty chilly though! Glad to hear your back on tour. We love to read about your adventures.

Sara just wanting to say how much your "update" post was totally encouraging to me. My husband and I are moving to Syracuse, New York where he is going to switch career and go back to school for environmental work. Unfortunately we are waiting for our house in Kansas City to sell which is slooooooooow going. Just wanted you to know how much you helped to remind me that the Lord is always in control of the details. He is always steps ahead of us and it is easy to get down and frustrated but I can see through others like you...He always has a plan for us.
Safe Travellin!
